"extremely good & gratifying"

in an effort to not keep anyone waiting in anticipation, an update from HQ:

Dr. Mehrotra was quoted monday to say, “the response to chemotherapy was extremely good and gratifying”.

the dominant mass of the right breast, enlarged mammary and axillary lymph nodes, and sacral lesion were noted as “RESOLVED” on the PET scan findings. prayers answered, energy reciprocated: CHEMO WORKED!

the next steps are:

  • maintain chemo’s effect of ovarian suppression via shot beginning this week

  • double mastectomy with phase 1 of reconstruction will occur in the next 30 days

  • approx. 3 weeks later, chart course of long-term ovarian suppression (shots, oopherectomy or hysterectomy) & begin hormone therapy

  • approx. 4-6 weeks (after surgery) radiation of right breast/armpit (5-6 week duration, daily)

  • then, if safe: radiation of the pelvic spot

  • then, phase 2 and beyond of reconstruction

re-imaging will occur every 3 months for the time being to monitor activity and stay on top of it all. it is likely my port will be removed during the mastectomy surgery unless i meet criteria for an immunotherapy clinical trial (don’t have all details or info on this yet).

SO…. this is all good news. we are on course with the speculated plan of treatment made in January and i still have 2-4 weeks of break from treatment to soak up the sun and summer goodness!

more to say at another time, for now: thank you for your continued care and support, prayers and positive thoughts to Project Cancer. i hope everyone is getting to enjoy summer (especially the Minnesotans and midwesterners) as much as i am!
